What comes to your mind when you see that word? For many years, I’m sorry to say, I cringed. When the word holiness was used about God, I thought it meant an attribute of His that was over-against His love. For example, God only had so much love, then His holiness kicked in and then there was trouble!

I was blessed with a good dad. He was a good man, he loved the Lord, he loved my mom and he loved his sons, all three of us. It wasn’t always clear what his intentions were. That wasn’t his fault, it was mine. However, to say it was my “fault” might be a little too strong, the real problem was, I was immature. When we are young, we are immature by default. We have to grow into wisdom.

Joy and Suffering

Peanut butter and jelly are not the same but they go together. Syrup and pancakes are not the same but they go together. Marshmallows and Graham Crackers and Chocolate are not the same but they go together. I think you get my point. Substances that are very different fit together in tasty and nutritional ways. (Some of you may doubt the nutritional part). Joy and Suffering are very different but they can go together as well.

Getting a big inheritance is the plot line of quite a few movies and novels. Often, the heirs don’t know what they have. As a viewer or a reader, you somehow know what the heir actually has and as he or she makes decisions that may seem pauper-like, you might even say to yourself, “If they only knew.”
