Why Jesus?

Have you given much thought to who your teachers are? Why did you choose the people you have listened to? Does it matter? Jesus was told one time that the Pharisees were offended by His teaching. He responded, "Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch." That’s not politically correct! That’s not funny either. But, it is true. A blind man would be wise to choose someone with sight if he plans to follow the leader somewhere. As we look around this world, it really does appear that there are blind people leading blind people into ditches. The problem is, once we’re in the ditch, it is still very hard to get out without some seeing help. The person who is willing to admit blindness is making the first step toward progress. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life! He is the Light. He has the Sight! He can help us get to where we really ought to be and ought to want to be. Our text this week in Hebrews 7 is another reminder of the greatness of Jesus. Please follow Him and encourage others to follow Him. We are here to make disciples of Him. That’s our mission as a church. But, we won’t invite others to follow Him if we are not impressed enough with Him to follow Him ourselves.
