Called to Eternal Glory

It’s really easy to lose perspective. There are good reasons for the instructions to cast our cares on the Lord. Not only do our cares distract us from our present duty, but they also cause us to lose sight of the larger perspective. It’s a little like texting while driving. You’ve seen it, maybe you’ve done it. Just this past week I had to pull off to the side of Montcalm because a guy in a very large pickup truck was over halfway over the center line and headed right toward me; I know what he was doing. He was preoccupied with something other than driving and lost sight of the bigger picture. It’s dangerous. It’s also dangerous to lose the perspective of our calling and our place in the Body of Christ. Once we “lose it,” almost anything can happen. The last paragraph of 1 Peter is a reminder that we are called to eternal glory. That refers to the decision God made in eternity past to have a certain kind of people for Himself, and, it reminds us that the believer’s glory is guaranteed because God has decreed it! Dear saint, remember who you are. Remember how long you have been on God’s mind. Remember your destiny. Don’t let your worries, cares, selfish desires and the attacks of the enemy cause you to lose sight of God’s glorious intentions for your life now and forever.
